How to propagate jasmine

How to propagate jasmine

1. Cutting propagation

To propagate jasmine by cuttings, you should do it when the weather is warm, that is, at the turn of spring and summer, and choose old branches that are more than one year old for propagation. After selecting the branches, insert them into the soil that is half mud and half sand, cover them with plastic wrap, and provide the plants with a warm, humid environment with high air humidity. After completing the above steps, the plants will take root in about a month. After rooting, just transplant it into a pot.

There is one thing to note when doing cutting propagation. Because jasmine is a plant that likes sunshine and humidity, it needs to be kept warm when grown in the north, and it needs to be well illuminated when grown in the south.

2. Layering propagation

When layering a plant, you first need to make a light cut under the branches of the plant, then bury it in the soil, and keep the plant moisturized regularly. Wait until it grows roots, separate the branches from the mother plant, and transplant them into a pot. This way you can propagate a new pot of flowers.

When doing layering propagation, there is one thing you need to pay attention to. You cannot do too many layerings on the mother plant at one time. Four or five plants are the limit. Normally two or three plants are enough, because too many plants will affect the mother plant's nutrient supply, making it easy to lack nutrients, and the health of the entire plant will be affected.
