How to grow Clivia best

How to grow Clivia best

1. Watering

Clivia has relatively developed fleshy roots. Generally, it does not need too much water, just slightly moist. Its soil should not be too dry or too moist. Each time you water it, you should water it thoroughly. When the indoor temperature is low, you should reduce watering to avoid root rot and death due to excessive moisture in the pot soil or water accumulation.

2. Fertilization

When fertilizing it, it is generally necessary to apply thin fertilizers frequently, and not excessive fertilizer to avoid root rot. If you change the pot, you need to apply base fertilizer to it. In spring and autumn, you can apply appropriate top dressing after fertilizing, and in winter and summer, try not to apply top dressing as much as possible. It can rely on the nutrients in spring and autumn to grow.

3. Temperature

To grow Clivia well, you must first know that it is very shade-tolerant and prefers a cool environment. Therefore, the temperature in summer should be controlled at 15-25℃, not too high. The minimum temperature in winter should not be lower than 10℃ to avoid frostbite. Do not expose it to direct sunlight in summer, and pay attention to weather changes to grow it better.

4. Repotting

Repotting is beneficial to the growth of Clivia. You should choose a period when it grows more vigorously, usually in spring and autumn. Mature plants should be repotted once a year. When repotting, cut off old and rotten roots and place the plant in the culture soil. The soil must be filled firmly before changing the soil. After changing the culture soil, just water it thoroughly.
