How to propagate cinnamon

How to propagate cinnamon

1. Pressing branches

1. If you want to use this method, the time is generally set at the end of March and the beginning of April.

2. Observe the number of layering strips we can do around the mother plant, and then observe the extension of the branches. Draw a small groove in this direction. This groove does not need to be too deep, twenty centimeters is enough, and the width is also this data.

3. What we need to do next is to press it directly into the ditch, then compact it with soil, then water it, and finally make the soil in this place into the shape of a steamed bun.

2. High altitude layering

1. This is also a very important method. Generally speaking, we do this between September and October.

2. What we need to use is a bamboo tube, which we split into two pieces. Then put some soil in each piece. The soil must be wet. Then put it on the strong branches of the Osmanthus fragrans. Then use a bracket to erect it. Keep adding water to it to keep it moist.

3. New roots are likely to grow after about a month. In the spring of the following year, we will take it down and transplant it into a new tree. We can see its flowers in about three years.

3. Sowing

1. It will grow relatively mature fruits at the end of May and the beginning of June. At this time, we remove its shell, wait for it to dry in the shade, and then cover it with wet sand.

2. Wait until the spring of the following year, then sprinkle it on the seedbed, and it will sprout in March. In about a year, its seedlings will be about 15 centimeters. After two or three years, it will grow to one meter high. At this time, we can transplant it to the desired place and let it grow well.

4. Grafting

For this one, you need to select a tree that is already twenty years old, choose a strong side branch that has grown for one year, then cut its second bud, graft it onto the Ligustrum rootstock, and then wrap it with film. It will sprout in this season, but it will take ten years to bloom. However, there is a very bad thing about using this method, that is, its branches are not straight, so it is not suitable to be planted on the roadside as a greening tree.

5. Cutting

This was done in February. First, we had to kill insects and disinfect. Then we stuck it in the soil, covered it with a layer of grass, and then watered it. Wait until it grows to about six centimeters before it can sprout.
