The difference between the fortune tree and the Schefflera

1. Fortune Tree

It originates from Mexico. It belongs to the family Bombax and the genus Castanea. It likes areas with very high temperatures and high humidity and needs sufficient sunlight. It cannot withstand very cold temperatures and is afraid of the stimulation of strong sunlight. It can tolerate shade and has a certain resistance to drought. It is best to grow it with very fertile and loose soil. It can be pruned frequently and the temperature in severe winter cannot be lower than ten degrees.

2. Schefflera

It is a plant belonging to the Araliaceae family. It can remain green all year round and is a shrub. It has many branches, and the branches are densely spaced. Its flowers are cone-shaped, light red, and its fruits are dark red. This tree is often seen in tropical areas.

3. Shape Difference

1. The leaves of the former are palm-shaped, with 5-11 leaflets. Generally, the petioles are short or absent. The leaves are oblong or oval in shape. The upper end of the leaves is pointed, without hairs and relatively soft.

2. The leaves of the latter are compound leaves, also in the shape of a palm, with 6-9 leaflets, and up to 11 leaflets. Its leaves generally have a papery feel, with serrated edges, and are very shiny. Obvious veins can be seen, and the leaves are relatively hard.

4. Flower type difference

1. The flowers of the former are light yellow and lanceolate in shape. They begin to bloom from May to November. Its fruit is pear-shaped and brown in color.

2. The flowers of the latter grow on the top of the branches and leaves. The shape of the flowers is conical, the flowers are white, and they bloom in November and December. Its fruit is spherical and black.
