The difference between Phalaenopsis and Clivia

1. Difference of blades

The leaves of Phalaenopsis are slightly fleshy, often 3-4 or more, green on the top and purple on the back. It is oval, oblong or sickle-oblong in shape, about 10-20 cm long and 3-6 cm wide, with a wide and short sheath.

The leaves of Clivia are leathery, dark green and shiny. Its shape is sword-shaped, which is wider than the former, about 30-50 cm long, about 3-5 cm wide, and has an entire edge.

2. The difference between flowers

The flowers of Phalaenopsis grow laterally at the base of the stem. The flowers are white and very beautiful. The petals are diamond-shaped and the flowering period is from April to June.

The scape of Clivia grows out from the leaf axils, in umbels, and is terminal. The flowers are yellow, orange-yellow or orange-red and funnel-shaped. It can bloom all year round, mainly in spring and summer.
