How to propagate Rhododendron

How to propagate the Rhododendron serrata

The Rhododendron scabra is relatively easy to cultivate, and its most commonly used method of propagation is scale cutting. Another method is seed propagation.

Propagation of Scale Cuttings of Rhododendron sabdariffa

Plant the bulbs in late spring or mid-autumn, and the soil should be about 11 cm thick. If the bulbs are large, plant them at intervals; if the bulbs are small, plant them densely.

When the planted bulbs are dormant, they can be cut and buried in different pots. Cultivate for one year before replanting, and transplant after the leaves fall in autumn. Alternatively, the bulbs can be stored in warm peat, where they will grow into bulbs, which can then be cultivated in a greenhouse and planted out.

Seed propagation of Rhododendron sabdariffa

The best time for sowing and propagating the Rhododendron scabra is late winter and early spring. Sow the seeds in loose soil, place them on a cold bed, and wait for four weeks for them to germinate. The next step is transplanting and planting, and fertilizing regularly. Or you can leave it in the pot where it was planted without transplanting it, and continue growing until it withers.

The reproduction and growth of the Rhododendron scabra requires sufficient sunlight, regular exposure to the sun, and well-drained, fertile sandy soil.
