How to make bougainvillea cuttings take root quickly

How to make bougainvillea cuttings take root quickly

1. Cutting method

In reality, many people often feel that cuttings take a long time to take root when they are taking cuttings. A large part of the reason for this is that we always like to pull them out to see if they have grown roots. If you do this often, the newly grown small roots will be pulled apart when you take them out, resulting in slow rooting or even no rooting. So today, for those friends who are itching to get started or don’t know how to prepare the soil for cuttings, I will recommend to you a new soilless cutting method, which guarantees extremely fast rooting.

2. The process of cutting

1. Prepare materials

We first prepare paper towels, branches and transparent Coke bottles, and poke a few small holes in the bottle caps to facilitate ventilation.

2. Processing and wrapping branches

After slightly pruning its branches, wrap its lower part with paper towels. Be careful not to wrap it too tightly, otherwise it will make it difficult for the roots to grow.

3. Disinfect the branches

First wet the paper towel wrapped around the branches with water, then spray it with disinfectant to fully sterilize the branches and prevent bacteria from growing and affecting root development.

4. Treat the upper part of the branches

Use the same method as above to wrap the upper part of the branch with paper towels. Be careful not to wrap the buds when wrapping, otherwise it will inhibit the growth of new buds.

5. Post-maintenance

After the branches are processed, we can put the wrapped branches in the bottle, and then place it in a dark place and ensure good ventilation. Then add some water every few days to keep the paper towel moist. This way, the humidity can be ensured. After 10 to 15 days, it will start to take root, and then we can move it to the pot.
