Rose cutting method

Rose cutting method

Roses have high ornamental value and strong vitality, so they are very suitable for continuous reproduction by branch cuttings. Because this method has a high success rate and is easy to operate, you can try to breed more rose seedlings and use them for viewing when they mature.

1. Cutting time

The most suitable time for rose propagation by cuttings is between April and June, or between October and November, because the success rate of rose propagation by cuttings is relatively high during these two time periods, and it is also their peak flowering period. It is best to choose branches with more vigorous growth, so that the rose can grow rapidly after cuttings.

2. Cutting steps

First, you need to prepare soil media suitable for the growth of roses, or you can use pure vermiculite for cuttings, the success rate is relatively high, then cut some selected branches from the healthy rose plants, preferably cut them obliquely, after cutting, trim their leaves and thorns, especially the thorns on the part of the stem that is cut into the soil. After trimming, check whether the bottom cut is flat. Next, you can pour the prepared relatively moist soil medium into a suitable container, then poke a few small holes in the soil, insert the cut branches into the holes in the soil, bury and compact them.

3. Maintenance

After the rose cuttings are done, the humidity and temperature should be maintained. Try to place them in a high temperature and high humidity environment with more scattered light and good ventilation to allow the rose branches to take root quickly. There should be 4 to 6 hours of soft light every day, and avoid exposure to the sun. After 2 to 3 weeks of maintenance, the rose cuttings will grow new leaves and buds, and then they can grow and mature with normal maintenance.
