How to prolong the flowering period of Begonia

How to prolong the flowering period of Begonia

1. Its flowering period

The flowering period of this plant is from April to May. The flowers are white and about 4 cm to 5 cm in diameter. The leaves are about 5 cm to 8 cm long and 2 cm to 3 cm wide, similar in size to the flowers. So when it blooms, the small white flowers bloom among the tender green leaves, which is very elegant and has a classical beauty.

2. Methods to prolong the flowering period

Light: First of all, ensure sufficient light, otherwise the flowers themselves will grow poorly, which will also seriously affect flowering, and it will be impossible to prolong flowering; if it is placed in a place without light for a long time, it may even prevent it from blooming.

Ventilation: Especially for indoor potted plants, you should pay more attention to air circulation and try to place them on the balcony or indoors.

Pruning: Pruning should be done in early spring, and the weaker, overly thin, and sideways plants should be pruned away. At the same time, the tops should be pinched off. At this time, you must not be too loving and reluctant to part with the flower buds. This can not only increase the light transmittance and ventilation of the plants, but also concentrate nutrients to avoid unnecessary loss. It is very helpful in prolonging the flowering period and can also make the plants more dense.

Nutrients: To extend the flowering period, it is not necessary to apply fertilizer during the flowering period. On the contrary, fertilization should be suspended in winter and summer, and sufficient nutrients should be provided at other times.

Repotting: As the plant grows, the pot and soil should be changed in time. Keep the soil nutrient-rich and the pot large enough for it to grow.
