1. Planting seedsSeeding is a relatively adaptable method. When breeding cherry blossoms in this way, be sure to take care that the seeds do not dry out. Plant the seeds immediately after collecting them, or hide them in moist sand and plant them the following year. 2. CuttingsThis is a common method. If using it, be sure to choose a healthy and sturdy cherry tree. Cut thick branches that are one year old from the outside of the tree, keep the top of the branch, cut it into 30 to 40 cm long, and cut an oblique cut at the top of the branch. The branches cut today should be planted today. In this way, the moisture of the cut branches will not be lost, and they will not be damaged by collisions. Be aware that if you plant thin branches it may not survive, and if the branches are too short it will grow too slowly. If planting in spring, use harder branches, and vice versa in summer. Add fertilizer frequently so that the roots will grow faster. About 7 days after the roots grow out, add fertilizer once, and then add fertilizer every fifteen days. After adding fertilizer three or four times, the roots will grow well. The next year you can transplant it to another location. 3. GraftingThis is a more convenient method. Because many varieties of cherry blossoms do not bear fruit, if you want to use this method, you can use a cherry tree as the base and do it in late March or late August, so that it has a greater chance of survival. It can be planted out three or four years after grafting. If grafting, wrap the cut with a plastic bag to keep it warm and prevent damage from the outside. 4. DivisionThis is a method often used in China. In this way, the branches can grow into big trees in the same year. There are two ways to do this. The first is to bury the small plants you want to plant with a pile of 30 to 50 centimeters of soil in the fall or early spring, so that new roots can grow. Generally, a large tree can be divided into five to ten small trees. Another way is to choose branches close to the ground from large trees in July and August, place them horizontally into the ditch, cover them with soil, and wait for them to take root. |
