How to Plant Hawaiian Coconut Seeds

The germination rate of plant seeds will vary greatly under different temperatures. Sowing seeds in the soil at the appropriate temperature can often achieve twice the result with half the effort. The germination rate of this plant is highest at 25℃, so the surrounding temperature should be adjusted to around 25℃ before sowing.

Soil selection

Hawaiian coconut has strong vitality and does not have high requirements for culture soil, but as a home plant, we can try to choose a culture soil that is more suitable for it for planting.

It is best to choose soil with a certain drainage ability for planting. Such soil is not prone to water accumulation and thus affecting the growth of plant roots.

You should try to choose soil with good air circulation for planting, which can ensure that there is enough air supply when the seeds germinate. It will not undergo anaerobic respiration due to lack of air, producing ethanol which would affect seed germination.

Try to choose fertile soil for planting. After the seeds germinate, the young plants need a lot of nutrients to grow, which requires the soil to be relatively fertile, sufficient to provide the nutrients needed for growth.

Planting method

First, choose a flower pot of suitable size, a porcelain one will do. Put some pebbles at the bottom of the flowerpot to increase the soil's ability to retain moisture.

Then pour the prepared culture soil into the flowerpot, filling it to 90%. Then use a shovel to level the soil and prepare for planting.

Sprinkle the prepared seeds lightly on the soil surface and cover them with culture soil. At this time, you should pay attention to the thickness of the covering soil, which should be moderate, not too thick or too thin, 2 cm thick is best.

Moisten the culture soil with water to provide the seeds with a suitable germination environment.

Finally, place it in a semi-shaded room and water it in time to ensure that there is sufficient moisture in the culture soil. After about 3 to 4 months, the seeds will germinate.

Precautions

After the young plants sprout, they need to be watered in time to ensure sufficient moisture.

When the young plants grow a little bigger, you can choose some water-soluble fertilizers and apply them along with watering.

In the hot summer, you can water the leaves and the ground near the flower pot to help the plant survive the summer.

In late autumn, you can water less to help the plants overwinter.
