How to grow Anthurium in winter

How to grow Anthurium in winter

1. Lighting requirements:

This plant grows in a cycle from leaves to flowers, then leaves again, and then flowers again. If the plant receives too little light, the assimilation it produces will become less through biological action; when the light it receives is too strong, some of the leaves of the plant will heat up, which may cause the leaves to change color, and they may also be burned, and in severe cases, they may even scorch. Certain shading measures must be taken to prevent the flower buds from changing color or being burned. This plant likes cool places, so it can be placed in a place indoors where it is exposed to light, but it must not be exposed to direct sunlight.

2. Temperature:

The temperature requirements of this plant depend on other climatic conditions. In winter, when the temperature is relatively low and the indoor temperature during the day and at night is lower than 15°C, it is necessary to "keep it warm" appropriately, that is, to heat it; when the temperature is lower than 13°C, it is necessary to use professional machines such as heaters to keep it warm to prevent it from being damaged by the low temperature in winter.

3. Winter humidity:

This plant does not need too much moisturizing in winter, regardless of whether the room temperature is high or not, because if its leaves are too wet in the evening, it will weaken its ability to resist the cold, making it more susceptible to frostbite, which is not good for it to survive the winter safely.

4. Fertilization in winter:

The fertilization time for this plant can be from 9 am to 4 pm in winter. And according to planting experience, fertilizing the roots of this plant is more effective than applying it on the leaves. Because its leaves have a waxy surface, it is not conducive to the absorption of nutrients. Each time, a dedicated person must be responsible for applying fertilizer, strictly controlling the concentration of liquid fertilizer and the amount applied.
