Taboos of cultivating red gentian in winter

Taboos of cultivating red gentian in winter

Winter root maintenance

If root division is carried out in autumn, the soil in the pot must be kept moist in winter. This way, healthy new plants will grow smoothly in the second year.

The temperature in winter should not be too high

If it is raised in the south, it can be placed directly indoors for the winter, but it has to be moved indoors. After all, few plants can withstand the high temperatures in the north, coupled with the ravages of strong winds and blizzards. If you see the plants still standing in the yard before going to bed, they may have been taken away by the wind in the morning. It likes to grow in a cool environment. If it is moved indoors in the north, it must be placed in a place with lower temperature. For example, doorways, corridors, etc., and north balconies are also acceptable.

Pay attention to watering in winter

Although it hates drought, it also has a certain degree of drought resistance. Therefore, if there is too much water in the potting soil, it will affect its normal growth, and if it is too wet for a long time, it will also cause its roots to rot. In addition, water loss is less in winter, so the interval between watering can be extended in winter. Water the plant when the surface of the soil in the pot is completely dry. At this time, the deep soil is still a little moist, so watering is just right. Before watering, be sure to leave the water for a while to allow the water temperature to reach the same temperature as the potting soil before watering.
