How to plant southern mustard

How to plant southern mustard

Planting time

This flower blooms relatively early, usually in April. Therefore, friends who fail to plant in early spring can choose to wait until autumn to plant, because the temperature in autumn is more suitable for their growth. They are more cold-resistant, and the most suitable temperature for germination is 15-20 degrees Celsius. However, if you start in spring, it will bloom in three months.

Steps to Planting

Prepare the substrate

Be sure to choose the right substrate before sowing. The selected substrate must have good drainage, because this kind of flower is very afraid of waterlogging. If the drainage is poor, it will easily cause their roots to rot and even cause the death of the entire plant. When preparing the substrate, you can add a small amount of fertilizer so that they will not grow poorly during the initial growth due to too little fertilizer.

sowing

The vernalized seeds can be placed directly in the prepared nutrient soil, but the nutrient soil must be soaked in advance. Just sow the seeds directly on the surface, no need to bury them too deep. Burying them too deep in the soil will definitely affect their germination speed, and may even prevent them from germinating.

Lamination

After sowing, cover the substrate with a layer of plastic cloth. This layer of plastic cloth should be similar to plastic wrap, transparent and not too thick. The film not only maintains temperature, but also humidity. Once the seedlings have grown two true leaves, you can remove the film. However, the surrounding environment should also be kept at around 20℃.

Tips

If the crops are infested by aphids during the planting period, certain measures must be taken. If there are not many insects when you first discover them, you can directly remove the insects with your hands, and then spray them with appropriate pesticides.
