What to do with ground-planted succulents in winter

What to do with ground-planted succulents in winter

Different regions have different treatment methods

Few ground-planted succulents can survive the winter in the north. Even if you build a shed, it won't be of much use. The coldest winter in the north can even reach minus 40 degrees Celsius, and the normal temperature is minus 20 degrees to minus 30 degrees Celsius. So if you want ground-planted succulents to safely overwinter in the north, you can only transplant them into pots and place them indoors. If conditions permit, you can build a shed and add a heating device inside, or directly build a mini succulent cultivation room.

If transplanting, do not water immediately after transplanting. Wait until the succulent has adapted to the pot before watering. Also, do not damage its roots during transplanting. The leaves of some succulents will fall off with a slight touch, so you need to be extra careful when transplanting such succulents.

If succulents are partially planted in the ground in the south during the winter, they can safely overwinter. Succulents that are grown outdoors for a long time are stronger than indoor succulents. If you appropriately reduce watering and stop fertilizing in winter, the succulents planted in the ground will be able to survive the winter smoothly. However, you should be careful about rainy weather in the south and try to build a roof in winter to prevent rain splashing.

Not all succulents are suitable for planting in the ground

We talked about ground-planted succulents, but in fact there are many succulents that are not suitable for ground planting. This is because these succulents have relatively weak drought resistance and resistance. Therefore, when choosing the ground to plant, you must pay attention to whether it is suitable and check whether it is suitable.
