How to propagate Anthurium

Propagation by division

Division propagation is also the most common way to propagate Anthurium. It is usually carried out in spring. Select sub-plants, and each plant is required to have at least 3 leaves. Then, cut off the rhizomes, tie them up in sphagnum moss, and plant them in new pots. It will take about 3 to 4 weeks for new roots to grow, and then it can be planted. It will bloom in about a year.

Cutting propagation

Generally, cutting propagation is mostly used for varieties with relatively upright stems. They are also first placed in small bundles of sphagnum moss, but they must wait until the cuttings grow new roots before they can be moved into pots for planting.

Seed propagation

The best time for seed propagation is from May to September, which is also the season when Anthurium grows most vigorously. Select plump and complete seeds and place them in river sand first, with the depth of the sand about 0.6 cm. The soil should always be kept at a certain degree of moisture, which is especially conducive to the germination of small buds. Small buds will appear in about half a month. When the small buds slowly grow into small seedlings and each has 5 to 6 small leaves, they can be transplanted into flowerpots to complete the planting.

If it is grown in the open field, the flowering time will generally start in summer. At this time, if you control its growth environment well, you can achieve the effect of flowering all year round.
