How to prune the branches of coral bean

In the second year of the coral bean plant's growth, it grows strong and has a fuller crown, so it is appropriate to prune it when the fruits are ripe.

The coral bean seedlings need to be topped to encourage the lateral buds to grow from the middle of the main branches. When the lateral branches grow to 20 cm, they should be pruned in time, leaving 3-4 buds, to facilitate the production of more lateral branches and increase fruit setting.

Tips for pruning coral beans

1. Pruning fruit branches : The ornamental value of coral beans is mostly reflected in their fruits. The first step is to cut off the branches and leaves on the top of the coral bean fruit branches.

2. Prune old short branches : After the coral bean fruiting period, in order to promote the growth of new branches and leaves, all old, diseased and weak branches should be pruned off.

3. Prune dense branches : In the pruning method of coral beans, in addition to pruning fruit branches, old branches, and diseased branches, those branches that grow more densely should be pruned appropriately, so that the plant can be more ventilated and breathable, which is conducive to its growth.

4. Pruning and flowering : Coral beans need to be shaped and pruned when their axillary buds begin to sprout in spring. During the flowering period, some weak branches, dead branches, and old branches should be pruned away to reduce nutrient consumption so that they can bloom.

Coral bean pruning precautions

Not all coral beans are suitable for pruning. If the coral beans are just transplanted or planted by cuttings, such plants will be very fragile and cannot be pruned, otherwise it will affect the healthy growth of the coral beans.
