How to propagate Brazilian wood by cuttings

Cutting classification:

The most common method of propagation of Brazilian wood is cutting method, which can be divided into two types: columnar cutting and twig cutting.

Cutting method:

Columnar cutting method:

Choose tree trunks with a diameter of 6 cm to 10 cm for cuttings, and those larger than 10 cm are also acceptable, but the trunks must be kept fresh, and the bark should be light yellow in color; the soil can be about 30 cm deep; the substrate must be disinfected before cuttings; the depth of the trunk inserted into the soil is about 10 cm to 25 cm, which can be adjusted according to the firmness of the trunk; if the height of the cutting trunk reaches more than 1 meter, other main methods can be used to fix it for firmness. When taking cuttings, keep the soil moist and warm, and avoid the sun around noon; water it promptly after taking cuttings, and you will see new shoots in about a month; when the new shoots grow to 5 cm to 10 cm high, they can be transplanted.

Twig cutting method:

This method can be combined with plant pruning. The pruned branches can be used for cuttings. When the plant grows to a certain height, some of the high branches should be cut off for cuttings. Before cuttings, trim the branches to the appropriate length and then carry out cuttings; before cuttings, all kinds of soil containers and tools should be disinfected to avoid causing diseases to the branches. When cutting, you can choose horizontal or vertical insertion. At a temperature of 25 to 30 degrees, new roots can grow in about a month.
