How to plant white peony

Ecological environment

White peony is also called white flower peony. It has a large root and a straight and smooth stem. It has been cultivated in my country for a long time and is a very important Chinese medicinal material. White peony is suitable for growing in a warm and humid environment and has the characteristics of cold resistance. It starts to grow vigorously in April and May every year. White peony is generally planted in fertile, breathable soil. Large-scale planting requires a good drainage system. Before planting white peony, distinguish the sizes of the buds and plant them separately to ensure uniform growth and facilitate management.

Management methods

In early spring, loosen the soil, weed according to the situation after the seedlings emerge, and add soil to the roots appropriately. In early winter, remove the branches and leaves about 10 cm from the ground before the ground freezes, and add soil again. This will help the white peony survive the cold winter. Starting from the second year, fertilize it in March and April, and human feces and urine are best. The amount of fertilizer applied per mu is selected based on actual conditions. During November, you can start to apply fertilizer in the enclosure and increase the amount of fertilizer applied per mu. Then fertilize twice before harvest. Remove the excess flower buds every year and irrigate appropriately.

Pests and diseases

It is inevitable to encounter insect pests during the planting of white peony, so it is necessary to remove the diseased branches and leaves and spray a certain amount of medicine for prevention and control. White peony has high medicinal value. The harvest period is generally in the fourth year after planting. The rhizome is removed and the roots are dug out, leaving the seed part and the rest can be dried and used as medicine.
