Potted jasmine in spring and pruning

Potted jasmine in spring and pruning

Preparation for potted jasmine

In winter, jasmine generally needs to spend the winter indoors, and needs to be taken out of the house for maintenance in spring. Before that, you need to let the jasmine slowly adapt to the outdoor environment and prepare for it to go indoors.

First, after the vernal equinox, when the outdoor temperature reaches above 15℃, you can move the jasmine to a sunny place outdoors at noon to allow it to be exposed to light, which can help it recover early. After about two hours of exposure, you can move it back indoors.

At this time, you should pay attention to remove dead leaves, diseased leaves and diseased and insect-infested branches appropriately.

How to take care of potted jasmine outside the house

After Qingming Festival, the temperature has basically stabilized, and jasmine flowers can now be allowed to bloom outdoors.

First, prune the branches, heavily prune the weak branches, diseased branches and old branches, and lightly prune the branches that are growing well. This can ensure ventilation and light transmission and reduce the occurrence of diseases and pests.

After the jasmine flowers are completely out of the room, about 10 days later, remove the leaves when the soil is relatively dry. This can promote the growth of new buds and grow new branches and leaves. When picking leaves, be careful to pick them from top to bottom and not to damage the buds. After picking the leaves, be careful to control watering and avoid making the plant too wet.

The buds that grow out must be well cared for to allow them to grow fully. When they grow to 20cm, they can be pinched to promote branch renewal.
