Red Cloud Crape Myrtle has a strong germination ability, so reasonable pruning should be done according to the cultivation purpose. During the growth process, the suckers on the branches should be cut off in time, and pruning should be carried out in winter to cultivate the ideal shape.

Disease and Pest Control of Red Cloud Crape Myrtle

Red Cloud Crape Myrtle has fewer diseases and pests. The only disease it suffers from is powdery mildew, which will produce a layer of white powder on the back of the leaves. In severe cases, it will cause the leaves to fall off. To prevent it, you can use carbendazim and thiophanate-methyl. The main insect pests are aphids, scale insects, etc. Aphids mainly harm newly sprouted leaves and branches, causing sooty mold disease and seriously affecting plant growth. Scale insects have milky white spots and white blocks on the main trunk and side branches. When touched with the hand, there will be red liquid secretions. Scale insects will suck the sap of the plant, causing the tree to grow weak. To prevent insect pests, you can spray it with water containing dimethoate and ant insect forest.
