The method of softwood cuttings of red yew

Softwood cutting method

Taking softwood cuttings in midsummer can easily promote the growth of adventitious roots. Higher temperatures and longer light hours are also conducive to the cutting and seedling cultivation of red yew.

Selection of cuttings

Cut the healthy branches of the current year. The cutting requirements are basically the same as in spring. In addition, the cuttings need to be rooted in midsummer. Soak the lower end of the cuttings in 0.05% naphthaleneacetic acid powder solution for about 4 hours.

The red yew has many branches. Generally, some branches are cut in early spring, and some branches with better growth are cut in midsummer to obtain sufficient cuttings. At the same time, it will not affect the growth of the red yew in that year. It has the advantages of fast rooting speed, short seedling cycle and high survival rate.

High temperature protection and moisturizing

Because the temperature is high in summer, it is necessary to build a shade shed and provide shade. At the same time, water and moisture need to be replenished in time in the morning and evening to prevent the cuttings from drying up and dying due to lack of water.
