Seed propagation of bottle palmSelect high-quality bottle palm mother trees for seed collection, and sowing in pots, boxes or beds can be carried out. When sowing in large quantities, it is suitable to choose a seedbed in a place close to a water source, with flat sandy soil and a little shade. Before sowing, the seeds should be soaked to promote germination. You can soak the seeds in warm water at a temperature of about 30-35℃. After soaking for about 2 days, gently rub off the wax on the seed surface, take out the seeds and wrap them with gauze. After that, soak them in warm water once every morning and evening to keep the seeds moist. When they begin to germinate, they can be sown. Since the seed coat of the bottle palm is relatively hard, you can also use a sharp knife to cut off a small piece of the outer peel near the bud before sowing, and then soak the seeds in warm water. This will make it easier for the seeds to absorb water and germinate. It is suitable to choose plain sand as the culture soil. When sowing, put the top of the bottle coconut seeds upwards and then place them diagonally on the seedbed. The thickness of the covering soil is about one times the diameter of the seeds. After sowing, they need to be placed indoors at a room temperature of about 25-30°C, semi-shaded, and the soil kept moist. |
