How to mix peat soil and how to mix peat soil for planting flowers (ratio)

Peat soil preparation requirements

Peat soil is an acidic soil with very good air permeability that is formed in low-lying areas from silt, moss, plant residues, etc. after many years of accumulation, fermentation and decomposition. It has a loose texture, strong water and fertilizer retention capacity, stable pH, and sufficient nutrients. It has now become the most important cultivation soil for high-end flowers in greenhouse potted plants. Peat soil and garden soil are mixed in a ratio of 3:2, which has a good promoting effect on the growth of flower plants.

How to prepare peat soil

1. When we plant flowers and plants at home, we usually use peat soil as the main soil, but we should be careful not to use all peat soil. We need to mix it with perlite, vermiculite, etc. The soil prepared in this way will be softer, more breathable, and have improved drainage capacity, which is more conducive to the growth of flowers and plants.

2. For most common flowers in the home, you can mix peat soil, garden soil, river sand and bone meal in a ratio of 7:6:6:1. You can also mix peat soil, plain sand, decomposed organic fertilizer and superphosphate in a volume ratio of 10:7:2:1.

Precautions for preparing peat soil

The peat soil used for planting is mixed with other substrates such as garden soil and must be disinfected before use. Choose various soil disinfectants, or use direct sunlight to disinfect to avoid insect eggs or pathogens that affect plant growth.
