How to care for cineraria in winter

Keep the humidity level of Cineraria at the right level

The leaves of Cineraria are large and numerous, so the transpiration rate is also large. If it is too dry, the leaves of cineraria will wilt, which will be detrimental to the growth of the leaves and the leaves will easily turn yellow. There may also be poor growth, curled leaves, small flowers and other conditions that affect the appearance. If you water too much, the humidity will be too high and the roots, main stems and leaves will easily rot. Therefore, you need to judge the dryness and wetness of the potting soil every day to water it so that the humidity is moderate. In this way, the cineraria can grow better.

Controlling the Temperature of Cineraria

Cineraria also has high temperature requirements. The temperature should be kept between 15 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius during the day, and the night temperature should not be lower than 10 degrees Celsius. Temperatures that are too low or too high will have an adverse effect on the growth of cineraria. If the temperature is too high, it will cause the cineraria to grow too tall and the stems and leaves to develop too vigorously. At this time, you can spray water on the leaves to cool them down. When the temperature is too low, it should be placed indoors or in a sunny place to increase the temperature. But don't expose it to the sun for a long time, as it may easily cause diseases and pests. At the same time, pay attention to ventilation. Poor ventilation can easily lead to powdery mildew.

Controlling diseases and insect pests of Cineraria

Aphids and spider mites are natural enemies of cineraria. When preventing and controlling pests and diseases such as aphids and red spiders, you can spray with 1000 times diluted omethoate or cypermethrin. If powdery mildew occurs, it can be controlled by using pesticides such as thiophanate-methyl, triadimefon, and thiophanate-methyl.
