It should be noted that the rootstock needs to be properly pruned before grafting, and then the softwood branches of Podocarpus carpio can be selected as the scion for grafting. The cutting method is the same as other grafting. When grafting Podocarpus, it is particularly important to align the scion with the cambium of the rootstock, and then pay attention to proper management so that the plant can grow healthily. Scientifically proven, this grafting method has the highest survival rate.

Podocarpus belly grafting

The rootstock chosen for the belly grafting method of Podocarpus grafting is also large-leaved Podocarpus, but it needs to be two to three years old. Rice-leaved Podocarpus can also be used as a scion, and it can be carried out all year round. The difference is that the grafting site becomes the belly of the rootstock. Regardless of the grafting method, bagging must be performed to maintain moisture. Of course, if you want to graft in midsummer or winter, you must pay close attention to management issues to avoid plant death.

Podocarpus high branch grafting method

The high-branch grafting method of Podocarpus also uses Podocarpus macrophylla as the rootstock and Podocarpus milanophylla as the scion, but the survival rate of this grafting method is low, so it is generally not used.
