How to water camellia

How to water camellia

Watering method

When to water

Camellia requires alternating dry and wet conditions. Watering is generally done when the soil is completely dry. When the soil surface is completely dry and the leaves droop a little and there is a crisp sound when knocking on the flowerpot, it means that it is completely dry and it is better to water it at this time.

Watering methods for four seasons

In spring, the temperature gradually rises, and you can water more often, but be careful to keep the soil in the pot moist; in summer, the temperature gradually rises, in addition to daily watering, you also need to spray water on the camellia plants frequently, but in summer, it is rainy, and some areas will have plum rains, so in summer, in addition to spraying water to increase the humidity of the air and lower the temperature, you also need to drain water in rainy weather to prevent root rot; in autumn, the weather is relatively dry, and watering is the same as in summer. You need to pay attention to spraying water. Starting from late September, you need to increase the frequency of watering to promote the growth of camellia; in winter, watering should be reduced appropriately, and the soil should be relatively dry, and the soil can be kept moist before the cold weather arrives. In addition, during the flowering period, be sure to keep the soil moist and it is best not to let it dry out.

Basically, water more in spring, summer, autumn and during flowering period, and control water in winter.

Precautions

Pay attention to the material of the flower pot

When growing camellia, you may choose different flower pots, and the amount of watering required for different flower pots is different. If it is a clay pot, the soil will dry out more easily, especially in the summer when evaporation is more intense, so more watering is needed. If you use a purple clay pot or a glazed pot, the drainage will be relatively poor, so you should water less often.

Watering time

When watering camellia, the watering time generally varies according to the season. In spring and autumn, it is generally advisable to water the plants at any time except in the morning and at noon. In summer, it is not advisable to water at noon, but should be watered in the morning and evening. In winter, watering is generally done at noon when the temperature is high. Do not water in the morning or evening. When watering, pay attention to the water temperature and do not let it be too low.
