Cutting propagation method of Hibiscus truncatum

Cutting propagation method of Hibiscus truncatum

Cutting season

The most suitable time for cuttings of Hibiscus tiliaceus is spring. Of course, cuttings can be carried out in other seasons as long as there is a suitable environment. The general temperature is best to be around 25℃.

Cutting method

Branch selection

Choose a mother plant that is healthy and free of diseases and insect pests, and cut the branches outside the plant as cuttings. Do not cut old branches. Semi-lignified, vigorous and well-developed branches of the current year are most suitable. In addition, the cuttings need to be planted immediately after being cut, otherwise they will easily lose water and wilt. Then cut it into small sections of 10-15cm, leaving two leaflets and plump buds on each cutting. Cut the lower incision into a horseshoe shape, and the incision can be near the bud. Cut the upper incision flat, and the incision should be about 1cm away from the side bud. Once the cuttings are made, they can be planted.

Cutting medium

It is best to choose nutrient soil and peat soil that are loose, breathable and have good drainage properties. You can also use media such as pure sand. When taking cuttings, you can take more branches, so that even if the survival rate is not high, there will always be some that survive.

Moisturizing Management

In order to ensure the survival rate of cuttings, the humidity must be maintained and it should not be too dry. There are many ways to keep the moisture moist. You can use a seedling box or cover it with a film. Generally, the cuttings will take root two or three weeks after cuttings.

This is the end of the introduction to the cutting method of Hibiscus tiliaceus. This method of propagation is quite simple. I hope everyone can master it.
