Base fertilizer

When potting flowers, add some fertilizer to the bottom of the pot, or mix the fertilizer into the soil in a certain proportion. This is what is commonly known as base fertilizer. Base fertilizer can provide the necessary nutrients for flowers throughout the growth period and improve the structure of the soil. So what fertilizers can be used as base fertilizer?

1. Livestock manure composting

Use livestock manure as base fertilizer to ensure that your flowers grow luxuriantly and bloom continuously. However, this kind of fertilizer is hard to find nowadays, and you may just have a few cats and dogs at home. It doesn’t matter, Huahua will introduce it to you below.

2. Various vegetable leaves and peels for composting

Don’t throw the rotten vegetables and leaves and leftover fruit cores and shells in the kitchen into the trash can. Find a larger trash can, put a layer of soil in it and add a layer of rotten vegetable leaves and fruit cores. Let the vegetable leaves and fruit cores ferment naturally in the soil. The fermented soil can be used directly to plant flowers.

3. Bean dregs composting

When you make soy milk in the morning, do not throw away the dregs in the soy milk maker. Bury the dregs in the soil and cover it tightly with soil. Same as the fermentation method above, when the temperature is high, it will be fermented in two months.

top dressing

The soil in the flowerpot is limited, and after the plants have grown for a period of time, the nutrients may be insufficient. At this time, you need to selectively supplement fertilizers according to the different fertilizer needs of the flowers during different growth periods. for example:

Plant growth period:

At this time, the plants are growing hard and have a greater demand for nitrogen fertilizers, so you can choose fertilizers that are mainly nitrogen fertilizers. For example, inorganic fertilizers such as ammonium sulfate, ammonium chloride, ammonium bicarbonate, etc. are all nitrogen fertilizers.

If you don’t want to use chemical fertilizers, what organic fertilizers can you make yourself?

One method is to crush and cook soybeans, peanuts, melon seeds, etc., then add water at a ratio of one pound of decomposed material to ten pounds of water. After that, seal it and store it for half a month in summer and three months in winter, you can get organic nitrogen fertilizer.

Another method is what we introduced above, which is to use soil to pile up for fermentation, with a layer of decomposed beans and a layer of soil. The soil should be kept moist and sealed. After it is completely decomposed, it can be taken out and used.

Flowering and fruiting period of plants:

In order to promote more flowering and fruiting of plants, you can apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. Phosphorus fertilizers can promote the growth of rhizomes, and potassium fertilizers can promote flowering and fruiting. Common phosphorus and potassium fertilizers include potassium dihydrogen phosphate, compound fertilizer, potassium chloride, potassium phosphate, etc.

In daily life, chicken manure, eggshells, and bone meal contain phosphorus fertilizer, while wood ash, rice water, and fermented banana peels contain potassium fertilizer.

Foliar Fertilizer

Foliar fertilizer is spraying fertilizer directly on the leaves, which can make up for the adverse effects of insufficient nutrient absorption by the roots of plants. Convenient, fast, economical and effective. You can buy special foliar fertilizers, or you can dilute the fertilizer to a certain ratio and then spray it directly onto the leaves with a sprayer.

Dilute vinegar and spray it on camellia, gardenia, and azalea to reduce the phenomenon of yellowing leaves; dilute beer and water the flowers to make the leaves green and the flowers bright; in addition, rice water, expired milk, etc. can be fermented and used as foliar fertilizer to promote the healthy growth of plants.
