Can I raise fish by hydroponically growing copper coin grass?

Theoretically, you can raise fish

In fact, when growing plants, many flower lovers always have a flash of inspiration and come up with many strange ideas. For example, some flower lovers are wondering, is it possible to raise fish in the hydroponic pennywort?

Theoretically, you can raise fish while growing pennywort in water. Because in hydroponics, only water is used without soil, and there are only roots in the pot. If you can give the fish a certain living space, then raising fish in hydroponics is also a very good idea.

However, although the idea is good, the success rate is not high in actual operation. So what is the problem?

Reasons for low success rate

There are two main reasons why the success rate of fish farming is low when hydroponics of copper coin grass.

First, the root system of the pennywort is very lush and grows rapidly. When it is grown in water, it can easily fill the pot. In this case, there will be a lack of oxygen in the hydroponic container, the fish will suffer from hypoxia, and in severe cases, they may die. This is one of the reasons for the high success rate.

Second, the pennywort itself is not a large plant. When it is hydroponically cultivated, the vessels used are relatively small and shallow. The water in the pot is less and shallower, while the root system is more numerous. This way, the fish will have less space to move around and there will be less oxygen in the water, which is very unfavorable for the growth of fish.

Third, when growing pennywort in water, it needs to be fertilized. If the concentration of the fertilizer is too high, it will be very detrimental to the growth of the fish.

In fact, it is not easy to succeed in raising fish with hydroponic pennywort. Basically, it is a problem of oxygen. It is very easy to have hypoxia in the pot during hydroponic cultivation. If this problem can be avoided, there will be no problem in culturing fish in water.

How to raise fish better

When hydroponically cultivating pennywort, you can appropriately reduce the number of pennyworts, or choose a larger flowerpot, so that you can give the fish sufficient growth space.

Secondly, it is necessary to maintain sufficient light during hydroponics, and it is best to apply fertilizer with a lower concentration when fertilizing.

Finally, even if you raise fish, don’t raise too many, no more than 2.

If you can do these, the chances of success in raising fish with hydroponic pennywort will increase.
