How to Plant White Clover Seeds

How to Plant White Clover Seeds

White clover seeds before planting

Land preparation and fertilization

Because white clover seeds are relatively small and fine, their competitiveness is weak. In addition, due to the presence of weeds in the surrounding environment, their growth will definitely be slow. Before planting the seeds, you need to prepare the land and remove the weeds. At the same time, base fertilizer should be applied, and about 25 kg of calcium, magnesium and phosphorus fertilizers can be applied per mu. For some soils, such as those lacking in organic matter, manure should be applied. For soils that are too acidic, 50 kg of lime can be added.

Seed treatment

Before sowing, treat the seeds mechanically or by soaking and corroding them in concentrated sulfuric acid. Soak in sulfuric acid for 20-30 minutes, then take it out, rinse it with clean water, and dry it before sowing. In addition, you can mix the seeds with clover rhizobia before sowing, which is beneficial to seed germination and plant growth.

Sowing time and method

Sowing can be carried out in spring and autumn, either individually or in mixed forms, in rows or broadcast.

Planting depth

The planting depth is about 1-2 cm. Don't plant too deep, otherwise it will be difficult for the seedlings to emerge. Of course, appropriate adjustments should be made according to the texture and dryness and wetness of the soil.

Soil selection

White clover seeds do not have high requirements for soil. It is best to choose soil that is rich in calcium and humus and has good drainage, which can provide the seeds with more nutrients and a good growth environment.

That’s all about the planting methods of white clover seeds. I hope it can be helpful to everyone.
