Causes and treatments for yellow leaves of Chlorophytum

Causes and treatments for yellow leaves of Chlorophytum

1. Too much light

1. Reason: Chlorophytum likes to grow in an environment with sufficient light, but cannot be directly exposed to strong sunlight. Otherwise, the water in its leaves will evaporate excessively and turn yellow.

2. Treatment method: Move the plant to a semi-shaded location, keep it ventilated, and cut off the yellow leaves. It grows very fast and new leaves will grow soon after the leaves are cut.

2. Excessive watering

1. Reason: Excessive watering during maintenance is the most common reason for yellow leaves. Because excess water will remain in the soil and damage its root system. When the root system is injured, it cannot absorb water and nutrients normally to supply the leaves, and the leaves will turn yellow.

2. Treatment method: First take the plant out of the original flowerpot, and then use a knife to cut off the yellow leaves and roots that have become black and rotten. Afterwards, place it in a semi-shaded place to dry, and then replant it in new soil with good drainage for maintenance.

3. Excessive fertilization

1. Reason: It likes fertilizer very much, and needs to be fertilized in appropriate amounts during maintenance so that it can grow well. Be careful not to over-fertilize, otherwise it may cause fertilizer damage and cause its leaves to turn yellow.

2. Treatment method: At this time, you need to replace it with new flower soil that is soft, breathable, and has no residual fertilizer. Then stop fertilizing for a while and wait for it to recover on its own.
