How to propagate golden lotus

Seed propagation of nasturtium

The main method of propagation of nasturtium is sowing, which can be carried out from summer to autumn. Nasturtiums can be sown in pots indoors, or in the field in spring.

Before sowing, you need to remove the seeds first. Harvest fresh seeds in autumn, place them in a ventilated and dry place to dry, and then you can plant them. Alternatively, you can store the seeds you have taken, and then select relatively dry and full seeds in the spring, soak them in warm water to germinate them, and then sow them.

When sowing, choose a suitable seedling pot and sow the seeds in it. The soil is generally a mixture of garden soil and leaf mold. Cover the soil after sowing. After sowing, keep ventilation and provide shade in time, and seedlings will emerge in about a week.

Cutting propagation of nasturtium

In addition to seed propagation, nasturtium can also be propagated by cuttings. Cutting propagation can be carried out from April to June.

When propagating nasturtium by cuttings, you can choose a relatively sturdy stem of nasturtium in early summer, select a suitable section from the stem, cut it into cuttings of about 10 cm, and insert the cuttings into a sand bed with good air permeability. After that, you must pay attention to maintaining a high air humidity and provide shade. It will take about 2 weeks for the plant to take root, and you can then transplant it. After planting, normal maintenance can be carried out.

Tissue Culture of Nasturtium

If the nasturtium is cultured in tissue culture, the tender stems can be sterilized and directly inoculated on the culture medium.

After a period of cultivation, it will survive.

Note that nasturtiums are usually transplanted when they grow 3-4 leaves.
