Mode of reproductionFor ordinary family cultivation, the propagation of Dendrobium mainly adopts three simpler methods: division, bud division and cutting, which are relatively easy to operate. Let’s take a closer look at the breeding methods of Dendrobium. Propagation by divisionThe so-called division propagation is to separate those plants that grow together and plant them individually. Generally speaking, it is cut from the base of the old root stem to minimize damage to the root system and allow the main plant to grow into a single plant. For those Dendrobium orchids with vigorous growth and high germination rate, division is a very suitable propagation method. Bud propagationOld Dendrobium plants often have new shoots growing on the top or base, and these shoots also have roots. In this case, it is very suitable to use the method of bud division for reproduction. The specific operation method is: select the buds with more leaves and roots and cut them off from the mother plant. Cutting propagationThe principle of Dendrobium cuttings is similar to general cuttings. Choose fresh Dendrobium strips and cut them into several sections. Each section contains 2 to 3 nodes. Apply wood ash or disinfect the previous cuts appropriately. According to the growth direction of the Dendrobium orchid, insert the roots into the substrate. Because the nodes are where new buds grow, they should be exposed outside the substrate as much as possible. |
