Summer and winter survival of Alumroot

Summer and winter survival of Alumroot

How to survive the summer with alum root

Pay attention to lighting

There are two very important points for alum root to survive the summer, such as light.

Alum root likes light, and sufficient sunlight is beneficial to the growth of alum root. However, the summer sunlight is too strong for alum roots, so alum roots need to avoid direct sunlight during the summer. They can be placed on a shaded balcony for maintenance, or in a cool place, such as an air-conditioned room for maintenance.

Pay attention to watering

The second thing to do for alum roots to survive the summer is to pay attention to watering.

Alum root does not like a too humid growing environment and is very afraid of water accumulation in the soil, because water accumulation can easily cause root rot.

Therefore, when caring for alum roots, the soil must be loose and breathable. Some river sand can be added to the soil to increase air permeability and drainage. When watering, you should follow the principle of watering only when the soil is completely dry. In summer, you should especially control watering to avoid root rot caused by water accumulation.

How to Overwinter Alum Root

Reasonable watering

Compared with the difficulty of surviving the summer, the wintering of alum root is relatively simple.

You don't need to water too much in winter because the temperature is low, the growth of the plants slows down, and they don't need too much water. And because of the low temperature, excessive watering will cause water accumulation, which may cause frostbite to the alum roots. Watering can be done in the morning on sunny days.

Can it be raised outdoors?

Whether alum root can be grown outdoors in winter depends mainly on the temperature. Although alumroot is a relatively cold-resistant and shade-tolerant plant, the low temperatures in winter can still cause damage to it. In winter, it is still necessary to decide whether to place it indoors or outdoors based on the climate and the growth conditions of the alum root.
