"Experience" Summer Care Methods for Clematis

Clematis long petal evergreen variety

Such as: long petals (Bluebird, Cecil, Pink Maca). Evergreen (early spring, silver coin, apple blossom). Montana (pink rose, green eyes, superstar).

This type of variety will continue to grow in the summer and only requires normal maintenance, but the temperature is high in the summer and it is easy to attract creeping insects if it is maintained outdoors. It is best to spray it with fungicide once every half a month. For long-petal varieties, do not water them frequently. They will bloom as long as new branches grow. For evergreen varieties, never forget to water them. Once the capillary heels lack water, they will die soon.

Clematis early spring flowering varieties

Such as: Andromeda, Josephine, Pink Champagne, Bee Love, Woking Beauty, Crystal Fountain, Ice Beauty, Elsa, etc.

For this type of variety, a large number of flowers will bloom in early spring. After the flowers fade, the withered flowers can be cut off in time, and it is also acceptable to cut off the branches that have bloomed. After a month, many new branches will grow again, and small flowers may bloom.

The temperature gradually rises after May, and June is the rainy season. If the soil is not breathable and ventilation is improper, it is easy to cause wilt disease. Preparations need to be made for pest and disease control.

Clematis summer dormancy varieties

Such as: Xiaolu, Miss Kyoko, Cassis, and Huanzi.

After flowering, cut off the remaining flowers in time, retaining some leaves and branches to increase water evaporation and avoid the occurrence of wilt disease. You can maintain it normally for a period of time after the flowers fade, and a little rain is no problem.

When the leaves of clematis turn yellow and black, it means the dormant period has begun. You can shorten the branches and cut off the dead leaves. But it is best to prune before the end of August. Pruning too late will affect normal growth.

Secondary flowering varieties of Clematis

Such as: Italian series (Purple Cloud, Violet Star, Super Jack, Margaret Hunt). Full edge (such as Gu, Dulan, Wu Ji, A Liu).

For this type of variety, it is possible to bloom normally in summer. After the first flowering, all the branches that have bloomed should be cut off. About a month later, new branches will grow and flowers will bloom.
