How to make cyclamen bloom early

How to make cyclamen bloom early

Selected seeds

Select seeds and carry out seed treatment. Choose plump and shiny brown seeds, soak them in water at about 30℃ for 3 to 4 hours, and then sow them. They will bloom about 10 days earlier than seeds that have not been soaked.

Reasonable watering

Cyclamen is a plant that likes moisture and is afraid of waterlogging. Too much water is not conducive to its growth and development, and may even cause root rot and death. Therefore, just keep the soil moist every day, and the amount of water should not be too large.

Extend the light time

Cyclamen likes sunlight, and extending the light time can promote its early flowering. Therefore, cyclamen should be placed in a sunny place for maintenance. 6 Hormone treatment: When the young buds of cyclamen appear, gently spray 1 mg/kg of gibberellin on the young buds. Spray 1 to 3 times a day, which can advance flowering by more than 15 days.

Create suitable temperature conditions

Cyclamen cannot tolerate high temperatures. Too high a temperature will cause it to go into hibernation. Therefore, temperature has a great impact on cyclamen. Generally speaking, cyclamen grows best in an environment with a temperature of around 20°C during the day and around 10°C at night. The temperature can be slightly lower during the seedling stage. In addition, the temperature is slightly lower during flower bud differentiation and pedicel elongation, which is conducive to flowering. Cyclamen enters a dormant stage in the summer due to high temperatures. If low temperature conditions are created, it can break out of dormancy and is conducive to flowering.

Increase fertilizer application

Cyclamen is also a fertilizer-loving plant. First of all, you should start with the soil. The soil in the flowerpot should be fertile sandy loam with more humus. Replace the soil in the pot once a year, and apply 2‰ potassium dihydrogen phosphate once in spring and autumn each year. Avoid applying high-nitrogen fertilizers. It can bloom 15 to 20 days earlier.
