Cultivation method of new jade ornament

soil

The new jade ornamental is a drought-tolerant plant and prefers well-drained soil. Poor drainage will easily cause root rot.

The cultivation soil can be a mixture of coarse sand and cultivation soil in a ratio of 1:1, or a mixture of cultivation soil, vermiculite and coarse sand in a ratio of 2:1:1, or you can directly use special soil for cacti.

temperature

The new jade ornamental plant likes an environment with a large temperature difference between day and night. The optimal growth temperature is between 10-32℃. When the temperature is lower than 4℃ or higher than 33℃, it will enter dormancy and stop growing. If the temperature drops to near 0℃, it will be frostbitten or frozen to death.

Therefore, you should pay attention to air circulation in the summer and add shade during the noon period to avoid the high temperature. In the winter, when the temperature drops below 5℃, you can move it to a sunny place indoors to avoid the cold.

humidity

The new jade ornament has certain requirements for humidity. An environment with a relative humidity of 40-60% can make it feel comfortable. Usually, you can water it when the soil starts to dry. It needs to be watered thoroughly once a month or so, until water starts dripping from the holes at the bottom of the flowerpot.

Watering

When watering, avoid the leaves to prevent them from rotting due to water accumulation for too long; be careful not to allow water to accumulate at the bottom of the pot.

Reduce watering during the dormant period and on days with low temperatures in winter. On the contrary, slightly increase watering frequency in summer to cool them down, and avoid watering in strong sunlight at midday.

Fertilization

It is not advisable to apply nitrogen fertilizer to new jade ornamentals because it will cause them to absorb too much water, causing the stems and leaves to become brittle due to storing too much water.

Just apply a light liquid potassium fertilizer and phosphorus fertilizer to the new jade plants once a month (applying liquid fertilizer is counted as watering), and they will grow beautifully.
