Hairy crab breeding technology

Hairy crab breeding technology

The Chinese hairy crab , a freshwater crab produced primarily through aquaculture, is known for its wide-ranging diet and rich nutritional value. They not only taste excellent, but are also loved by diners and have become delicious dishes on many people's tables. Next, let’s learn about the breeding techniques of hairy crabs.

1. Breeding conditions

Site selection and construction: Choose a location with convenient transportation and away from noise to build the breeding pond. Ensure that the water source is clean and pollution-free, the drainage and irrigation system is unobstructed, the pool bottom is flat, and the ratio of the pool bank to the pool bottom is 1:2.5.

Anti-escape measures: Anti-escape facilities such as concrete walls or wooden fences should be built around the breeding area. To build a wooden fence, the planks must be buried 20 cm deep and secured with stakes.

Pond cleaning and disinfection: remove excess silt, leaving 10 cm, spread 200-250 kg of quicklime for disinfection, drain the pond and remove the garbage at the bottom after 7 days, and then refill the pond with water after drying it for 3-5 days.

Aquatic plant planting: Aquatic plants need to be planted in the pond, covering more than 70% of the area. Choose aquatic plant species that hairy crabs like to eat to purify water quality and provide shelter.

Release snails: Release 300-500 kg of snails into the pond before stocking as a food source for hairy crabs.

2. Feeding Methods

Reasonable stocking: stock 500-600 hairy crabs per acre to ensure sufficient space for movement and increase growth rate. The best time for stocking is from the end of February to mid-March to avoid winter death or molting. Build a temporary holding area with an area of 1/5 of the stocking area.

Scientific feeding: Hairy crabs are omnivorous and need to be fed with fresh small fish and snail meat once in the morning and evening every day, with the feeding amount being about 3-4% of the crab's body weight. Concentrated feed needs to be increased during the weight gain period.

3. Water quality control

Water depth adjustment: adjust the pond water depth according to the outside temperature. It can reach 1-1.2 meters when the temperature is high, and maintain 0.6-0.8 meters under normal circumstances.

Water change frequency: change the water every 7-10 days, once every 3 days when the temperature is high. Use quicklime to adjust the pH to 7.5-8.5, or use photosynthetic bacteria to improve water quality.

4. Fishing

Fishing is usually carried out in October and is carried out in a timely manner according to market demand. Use tools such as ground traps for fishing.

The above is an introduction to the key points of hairy crab breeding techniques. Many friends now breed hairy crabs , but if you want to breed high-quality hairy crabs, you have to start from many aspects.
