How to water potted peonies

How to water potted peonies

Watering method

Peonies have fleshy roots, so they should not be watered too often. Normally, they are not watered in winter, and there is no obvious time interval between watering at other times. Water them in time according to weather conditions and the condition of the potting soil.

After May, the weather gradually becomes warmer. If the weather is relatively dry, you can water it appropriately, but the soil in the pot should be dry rather than wet.

During showers or continuous rainy weather, be careful not to allow water to accumulate in the pot to avoid damaging the plant. After a heavy rain, loosen the soil in time to improve soil ventilation.

Watering precautions

Soft water is the main watering method for potted peonies. Natural water is the plant's favorite, followed by water from rivers and ponds. The tap water at home should be left to air for a day before use. Tap water contains chlorine, which is not conducive to the growth of peonies. You know, plants are sometimes picky eaters.

Don't use dishwater or laundry water to water the flowers, otherwise the peonies will grow ugly.

Pay attention to the water temperature, don't let it fluctuate between hot and cold. It's best to use water at room temperature. Don't use ice water in summer (do you think peonies want to cool down just like you do?). When watering in winter, leave the water indoors for a while until the water temperature is close to room temperature before using it.

In addition, the watering time and amount should also be properly controlled. In spring, you can water more, concentrated at noon; in summer, water sufficiently, in the morning and evening; in autumn and winter, water less, on sunny days when the temperature is high.
