How to propagate June Snow

How to propagate June Snow

Scattering method

Use the open space to loosen the soil, and then break it into small pieces and level it.

Evenly scatter the cut branches of one to two sections (about three centimeters) on the prepared ground, press the topsoil tightly with your feet or something, and water it thoroughly.

Spray water every other day. After about ten days, roots will start to take shape and new shoots will sprout. After twenty-five days, apply the first thin liquid fertilizer. After fifty days, apply 1:1000 times urea to promote seedlings. After two months, you can transplant and plant, and after four months, you can plant in pots.

In about a year, you can form an ideal tree stump bonsai with hanging roots. If used as a hedge, it can be formed in half a year.

Cutting method

The cutting method can be carried out throughout the year, but the survival rate is generally better in spring from February to March and during the rainy season.

During the rainy season, both hard branches and old branches can be used for cuttings. Cut 6-8 cm cuttings and insert them into slightly acidic fine sandy loam. However, the seedbed should be shaded after cuttings. Pay attention to watering in time after cuttings to keep the seedbed moist. In winter, you should also pay attention to cold protection when cutting.

Generally, dormant branches are propagated by cuttings in February and March, semi-mature branches are propagated by cuttings in June and July, and they can be potted and transplanted in October and November.

Division method

Division is usually carried out around March in early spring before budding, or preferably in late autumn when growth stops.

Dig the mother plant out of the soil with its roots, and divide it into several small clumps by hand or with scissors. Each small clump should have 1-3 branches with roots at the bottom, and transplant them into pots separately.

Division is a commonly used method for propagating Serissa serrata, and the survival rate is relatively high.
