How to propagate Jade Bell

How to propagate Jade Bell

Cutting propagation of Jade Bell

The main method of propagation of Jade Bell is cuttings. The best time for cuttings is May to June, but if conditions are right (there is a greenhouse), it can be done all year round.

When cuttings, choose thick and full top stems, cut them into 10-12 cm long pieces with scissors, and place them in a cool and ventilated place to let the wound dry. After the wound is slightly dry, it can be inserted into the soil and it will take root in about a week. When the roots grow to 2-3 cm, they can be transplanted into pots.

Leaf cutting propagation of Jade Bell

The leaf cutting propagation of Jade Bell is similar to cuttings. The method is to cut the leaves that are growing vigorously and are thick. Cut single leaves and place them in a cool and ventilated place to dry. After the cut is dry, insert it obliquely into a sand basin. It takes about 10-30 days for leaf cuttings to grow roots and produce new plants, which is a long time and has a lower survival rate.

Things to note when breeding Jade Bell

Whether it is cuttings or leaf cuttings, culture soil is needed. Soils include plain sand, vermiculite, peat or perlite. Keep the soil slightly moist during the rooting process.

The cuttings and leaves should be dried in a cool place to allow the wounds to heal before being inserted into the soil.

During the process of grafting jade bells, try to keep the soil moist, but not too wet, and avoid direct sunlight, just diffuse light.

There is a disadvantage of leaf cuttings of Jade Belle, which is that the seedlings grown from them usually lack chlorophyll and are difficult to survive.

Compared with leaf cuttings, leaf cuttings are slower.
