What does a mangosteen tree look like?

1. Appearance

Mangosteen is a small tree, about 12-20 meters tall, with many dense branches and obvious longitudinal ridges on the branches. The stem is upright, the bark is dark brown with yellow resin, and the crown is conical.

2. Leaves

The leaves of mangosteen are oval or oblong, dark green and shiny on the surface, light yellow-green on the back, with acute tips and entire edges. The leaves are easy to break, and yellow resin will flow out when broken.

3. Flowers

The male flowers of mangosteen are clustered in 2-9 at the top of the branches, with shorter pedicels. The stamens are fused into 4 bundles, which become cylindrical after degeneration. The female flowers are solitary or in pairs, also growing at the top of the branches. They are larger in diameter than male flowers, with slightly longer pedicels and 4 red petals.
