How to grow peacock arrowroot in winter

How to grow peacock arrowroot in winter

Stop fertilizing and increase light

The growth of the peacock plant will slow down relatively in winter and its absorption capacity will be weaker, so stop fertilizing during this period. The peacock plant does not stop growing in winter, it just grows more slowly. Therefore, it is still necessary to supplement light during this period. The sunlight is weak in winter, so it can be placed on a balcony with better light to receive sufficient sunlight without the need for shade. If the light is weak or it is placed in a dark environment for a long time, the peacock plant will gradually weaken and the leaves will gradually lose their luster.

Controlling temperature

Peacock plant likes high temperature and humid environment, and winter is no exception. The most suitable temperature for growth is 18~25℃. Try to move the arrowroot indoors for maintenance in winter. The indoor temperature should not be lower than 15℃, otherwise the leaves will become dark, curled, and the tips of the leaves will turn yellow. If the plant is only slightly frozen, new leaves can be grown in the next spring if the environmental conditions are changed in time. If the plant is severely frozen, the leaves will wither one after another, and even the whole plant may die.

If the temperature difference between day and night indoors is large in winter, you can cover the pot with plastic film or use a glass box to keep warm and moist.

Clean the blades in time

The sunlight is weak in winter, and the plant's photosynthesis is also weak. The plant's own nutrient accumulation is insufficient, and the plant grows poorly, causing the leaves to turn yellow and curl. In addition to supplementing light, the leaves should be washed frequently with clean water to wipe off the dust on the surface. Try to do this once a month to maintain the color of the leaves.
