1. We must first understand the growth habits of succulents We divide succulents into three categories, namely "winter type", "summer type" and "spring and autumn type". Generally speaking, when we put flowers in pots together, we should pay attention to the fact that it is best to have flowers with the same characteristics in the same pot. This way they have similar growing and dormant periods. The optimal growth temperature for winter types is 10°-20°. It will go dormant if the temperature is lower than 5° or higher than 30°. Cut off water during the dormancy period. Most of the common Crassulaceae, Liliaceae, and Aizoaceae are winter species. The best growth temperature for summer types is above 15°. Most of the species in Cactaceae and Euphorbiaceae are summer type. Of course, this is not absolute. The growth period of some varieties will change according to environmental changes, so we need to adapt to local conditions. Different regions and temperatures have different growth characteristics. 2. Know the physical characteristics of succulentsThe second factor to consider when making a mosaic pot is the body shape of the succulents, which can be divided into shape, height, fatness, etc. In order to make a pot of succulents have a well-proportioned arrangement of heights, fatness and thinness, we must first understand their body characteristics. Taking Crassulaceae plants as an example, let’s talk about how to match them. Common Crassulaceae plants can be roughly divided into two types, namely "columnar" and "flower-shaped". The columnar ones are represented by the genus Echeveria; there are more flower-shaped ones, such as the genera Echeveria, Aeonium, Sempervivum, and Pachyphyllum. Crassula plants grow in a straight line upward and are easy to separate. Genera such as Echeveria, Sempervivum, and Pachyphytum are relatively short and tend to grow in groups. Although Aeonium also has flowers, its stems are upright and it may grow taller. 3. Color contrast and matching of succulentsWhen we put the succulents in the pots, we need to consider the color matching. Succulents of different colors will be more beautiful and colorful when put together. When the temperature difference is large, Crassulaceae plants will change color, and the original green will be replaced by brighter colors. The main colors are yellow, red, purple, white, black, and blue. The representative plants are as follows. Yellow: Rising Sun, Huang Li, Imperial Star, Ming Yue, Golden Flower Moon, Dong Yun. Red: Fire Festival, Red Lotus, and Jilongyue. Purple: Purple Pearl, Blue Stone Lotus, Frost Crane. Brown: Purple Peony, Rosette Grass White: white peony, jewel flower, snow lotus, and Echeveria lucidum. Black: Black Wizard, Black Prince, Yamato Nishiki, Komato Nishiki. Blue: Moonlit Night, Blue Lotus, Blue Pine. |
