How to keep pomegranate seeds

How do pomegranate seeds come from?

Pomegranate is a deciduous tree or shrub with leaves opposite or in clusters and no stipules. Pomegranate has seeds, and when the pomegranate matures, mature seeds form inside the fruit.

How to keep pomegranate seeds

Pomegranate seeds can be preserved for a long time. Pomegranates can keep their own seeds. After the pomegranates are ripe, they fall to the ground and burst, exposing the fruit. Mature seeds are formed inside the fruit, which can be opened to take out the seeds.

Preserving pomegranate seeds

Pomegranate seeds can be sown in time after harvesting, and the survival rate is very high. If they are not sown in time, they can be placed in a low temperature, dry and well-ventilated environment.

Pomegranate seed planting

Pomegranate seeds are suitable for sowing in spring and autumn, specifically from March to May in spring and from August to October in autumn. Due to different climatic conditions in the north and south of my country, the sowing time is not the same.

1. First of all, pomegranate seeds must be harvested after they are fully mature in autumn. At the same time, they must be stored using scientific methods. Generally, sand storage is used, which allows the seeds to dormant better.

2. Soaking seeds : Pomegranate seeds can be soaked in clean water at 20-30 degrees to allow the seeds to absorb enough water and germinate faster.

3. Germination: Wrap the soaked pomegranate seeds in wet gauze or wet towel, place them in a large bowl or small basin, and wash them 1-2 times a day with 25-30 degree water. It is best to mix the seeds with fine sand before sowing.

4. Generally, pomegranate seeds are more suitable for sowing in sandy loam, so you can prepare the land to be sown in advance, and then use the row sowing method, dig furrows and sow evenly, and cover with 1-1.5 cm of soil after sowing.

5. Generally, the soil must be kept moist after sowing pomegranate seeds, so water should be sprayed frequently, but not too much. In addition, the temperature must be kept above 10°C, otherwise it will affect the germination effect.

6. If it is planted in a relatively small amount in the courtyard or garden construction, we can choose to propagate it by cuttings or layering, which will have a better planting effect.
