How to water a cactus

How to water a cactus

Watering precautions

Do not water the cactus too much. Too moist soil in the pot can cause root rot of the plant. Therefore, the soil in the pot should not be too wet. It is better to be dry than wet. Water it only when it is completely dry.

How to water new plants

To avoid root rot, do not water the newly planted cactus. Just spray it 2-3 times a day. Slowly increase the amount of watering after half a month. After a month, when new roots grow, you can increase watering.

Watering time

Cactus should be watered in the early morning in summer, in sunny weather in winter, and in the morning and evening in spring and autumn.

Watering method

Generally speaking, do not water the top of a cactus, otherwise, over time, ugly spots will appear on the cactus ball, and in severe cases, it will even rot. When watering it, you need to water it enough, and to do this you need to loosen the soil regularly to ensure that the moisture in the potting soil can be evenly absorbed.

1. Summer is the peak growth period for cactus. At this time, high temperature and heat are the biggest obstacle for cactus, and the water storage capacity increases. Watering must be carried out sufficiently. Watering should be done once in the morning and once in the evening. If you do not water it regularly, it will easily cause burns to the sphere. During the rainy season, watering needs to be properly controlled. For cacti with a depression on the top, be careful not to pour water into the depression, otherwise it will cause the ball to rot. Also pay attention when watering in the evening.

2. During winter dormancy, you need to control watering and keep the soil in the pot dry and slightly moist. The lower the temperature, the drier the soil in the pot should be kept. Watering in winter should be done in the morning or at noon. As the temperature gradually rises, the plants will emerge from dormancy and the number of waterings can be increased accordingly.
