Soil selection for lotus

Factors affecting soil

Chemical pollution

Nowadays, many factories are built near rivers. Although the wastewater discharged has been treated to meet safety standards, it still causes certain pollution to the environment. Our daily domestic wastewater also contains chemicals. Just imagine, how long can you live if the air you breathe every day contains a large amount of chemicals?

Parasites

The silt is in a relatively humid environment. Various bacteria and parasites will multiply in large numbers in the high temperature and humid environment, but they are invisible to the naked eye. When the soil contains a large number of parasites, it will erode the roots of the water lily and affect its growth.

Stones, bark

With your larger particles. This is easy to clean. If it is left in the mud, the roots of the water lily will not be in complete contact with the mud, leaving space for parasites to grow.

Water Quality

Choosing the right soil during planting and watering during maintenance will change the acidity and alkalinity of the soil. Water with a neutral pH is best. Bowl lotus is suitable for growing in acidic soil. Household tap water with too much chlorine and domestic wastewater containing chemicals are not suitable for watering flowers directly. Once the soil properties are changed, the bowl lotus will definitely not survive!

Soil and treatment methods

Select soil one

Choose a clean pond without rocks, branches or other debris, and the soil should be slightly moist. Take it home and process it.

Expose the soil in the sun to form blocks, then break them up into pieces. This can disinfect the soil and disperse the odor.

After being exposed to the sun for a few days, moisten the dried soil to restore it to its original humidity, then add half the sand and mix it and you're done !

Soil Selection II

Ordinary potting soil or garden soil can also be added with organic fertilizer. As long as the soil is acidic and half silt and half sandy, it will be fine.

Prepare organic fertilizer, animal manure or oilseed cake will do.

Mix garden soil and organic fertilizer, crush them and mix them evenly, then cover them tightly with plastic film. When you are ready to pot it, remove the plastic film and expose it to the sun for a few days before use. If you find loess, add some sand to loosen it up before mixing it with organic fertilizer.
