What are the methods for propagating lilacs? Is lilac easy to grow?

1. Breeding Methods

1. Sowing: There are many ways to propagate lilac. You can select seeds with full grains, prepare the soil, and then sow them. If the surrounding environment is suitable, they will germinate after a period of time.

2. Cuttings: If you use cuttings for propagation, you must first select the branches. You can use semi-lignified branches with a length of about 15 cm. Remove the leaves at the bottom and keep a few leaves at the top. Prepare a breathable substrate, then dip the branches in rooting powder and insert them.

3. Layering: Lilac can also be propagated by layering. The best time is around early spring, February or March, when the survival rate is relatively high. Select a vigorously growing plant, choose strong long branches from it, press them down into the soil, cover them with soil, and keep them moist. After a period of time, they will take root. After taking root, they can be separated from the mother plant and planted.

4. Division: Division is also one of the methods of propagation. The time can be chosen before the buds sprout in early spring, or you can choose the autumn climate when the leaves fall off, take the plants out of the original soil, break off the small buds on them and plant them.

5. Grafting: Grafting generally uses bud grafting. Select the rootstock and scion and graft them together.

2. Is it easy to raise?

Lilac is highly adaptable and relatively easy to grow.
