Management methods for orchids during the germination period (detailed explanation of watering and fertilizing methods)

1. Temperature management

After the orchid sprouts, the first thing to do is to ensure that it is provided with a warm growing environment. This way its young shoots can grow smoothly. Specifically, it is recommended to control the temperature at around 20℃, not too high. If it exceeds 30℃, the young sprouts will grow very slowly or even fail to grow. Don't make the temperature too low either. If it's below 8℃, the young sprouts may be frozen and unable to grow smoothly.

2. Lighting Management

Most orchids are shade-loving flowers and cannot tolerate strong sunlight exposure. Especially the newly grown young shoots have poorer sun resistance. Therefore, it is best to place it in a semi-shaded environment and provide only a small amount of light. This will allow it to grow smoothly and not wilt in the sun.

3. Water Management

When it is in the germination stage, it is necessary to do a good job of water management and provide it with an appropriate amount of water. To put it simply, water should be supplied reasonably. Do not supply too much water nor should you leave it without water for a long time. Too much water will cause water to accumulate in the planting material, damaging its root system, while too little water will prevent its new shoots from growing. Therefore, it is best to wait until the planting material becomes dry before watering. Control the amount of water each time you water, and stop watering after the planting material is thoroughly watered.

4. Fertilizer management

When it is in the germination stage, you can apply appropriate fertilizer. Fertilizer should be mainly nitrogen fertilizer, because this kind of fertilizer is very good for the growth of its new shoots. The frequency of fertilization should be controlled at 1-2 times a month, not too frequent. Before each fertilization, the fertilizer should be diluted with water in advance. This can prevent concentrated fertilizer from burning the roots.
